Cullen Becomes a Sanctuary Jack

Jacks Galore has decided that Cullen will be coming into the rescue’s sanctuary. This most delightful Terrier will become part of our extended family and join our pack of lifers. WHY?  Despite him having an enormous amount of energy, very playful, curious and so wanting to be with you, he does have some major kidney issues that we fear will make it uncomfortable for people to foster or adopt. He has quite a bit of “leakage” at night totally unaware of the problem, we know this will be unpleasant for anyone to have to deal with the continuous cleaning of […]

Bea, A Perfect Rescue

Bea’s story is a success story of the purest kind. Pack of Jacks, one of our rescue partners in West Virginia, works very closely with some local shelters who turn to us when a Jack Russell is in need. Along with husband Clint, boys Bear and Ellis, the 3 jacks and the cat, they foster and nurture the Jack Russells that come through their doors before sending them on their way to Massachusetts. Occasionally Chelle and JG mom change course and we wonder what’s best for a particular Jack that lands in her lap. So, when asked to take in […]

2021 ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

It’s that time of year again, our annual fundraiser to keep the rescue moving forward. Once a year we do ask you all to support our efforts, make sure that we have enough funding for the year to bring in Jack Russells that are looking for their forever homes. Whether abandoned, surrendered by individuals for personal reasons, shelters asking us to take in a jack in need, or those jacks that Animal Care and Control takes in. We try not to say no. We do not discriminate against age, their health status or personality; we just do whatever we can […]

Father’s Day

Father’s Day is certainly a time to thank all of the men in our lives who mean a lot to each of us as individuals, but also to those men who do so much for the community, society, children of any age,  and of course for the dogs in our lives too! I hope that all the men who have been fathers to any living creature and cared for them are celebrated today. I know there’s one man in JG mom’s life who is very important. Who every day, continues to care for all of the four-legged children in his […]

Cosmo Now Safe with Jacks Galore

Third time a charm. Cosmo, a senior male Jack Russell terrier of diminutive stature, had his life saved twice after his owner abandoned him not once, but two times in two different parks, in two different states because “he was old, pees everywhere and I do not want him anymore”.     First, he was found at a park in RI, brought to an animal rescue, and then reunited with a family member after countless media postings.  According to the rescue, he was so happy to see his family again.     THEN, he was found running down a main […]

A Senior “Moment”

We have been very much out of touch since this pandemic has thrown the world into disarray, including the rescue. As of late, it seems JG mom can never muster up anything new to write.  BUT now we are slowly seeing more new jacks, having been busy lately helping others in need. Now we are reaching out to some of the applicants to see if we can find some matches.  Some of you have been hanging on since last year, and we are connecting with you first IF we think the JRT for you has come looking for their new […]

A New Year – Will It Get Better?

2020 behind us, I can’t think of a more miserable year in so many ways. We have few Jack Russells in need (there is a silver lining to everything) but more than 100 applicants longing for a Jack. So many of the people who applied were unable to find a good match from our rescue. We continue to be confronted with health emergencies countrywide, and on top of that, JG mom was unable to walk dogs since May 2020, major knee surgery in October and still in recovery until most likely well into the late spring. A most frustrating and […]

The TN Five

Russell Rescue Tennessee contacted Jacks Galore to help with nine Jack Russells brought to a shelter after the owner died, we of course agreed. Working together, all nine made it out of the shelter with five of the jacks headed up north. Sadly the elderly woman was also a hoarder of “things” not just her Jack Russells, so the dogs didn’t live in exactly ideal circumstances. Some skin issues, flea allergies, but nothing that cannot be fixed with good food and a clean environment. There is absolutely one thing that’s true though, they were loved. Very sweet and longing for […]

ANNUAL 2020 FALL FUNDRAISER

WE NEED TO RAISE $25,000 To receive matching gifts worth $35,000 – YES that’s right!!!! – AWESOME It’s that time again, our annual fundraiser to keep us going for yet another year.  We’re a little later than usual, but that’s because COVID 19 has upended everyone’s lives, including rescue work. It being fall, we have a super long sleeve T and a great tote (no more plastic) to thank you for your support. Since we have all been cooped up we loved adopter/illustrator Don’s rendition of where we have been all holed up – HOME with JG Charley as model […]

What’s It All About……Alfie?

As the songwriters, Bert Bacharach and Hal David wrote: “What’s it all about, Alfie? Is it just for the moment we live? What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?” Four-year-old Alfie has had a real rough time of it, and the first four years of his life have been nothing but frightening. A survivor of the New Jersey puppy mill 188ers, he found his way to St. Huberts shelter when all of them were saved from deplorable and cruel conditions. They did an amazing job last year and made sure that all of these dogs found their […]
