ANNUAL 2020 FALL FUNDRAISER

WE NEED TO RAISE $25,000 To receive matching gifts worth $35,000 – YES that’s right!!!! – AWESOME It’s that time again, our annual fundraiser to keep us going for yet another year.  We’re a little later than usual, but that’s because COVID 19 has upended everyone’s lives, including rescue work. It being fall, we have a super long sleeve T and a great tote (no more plastic) to thank you for your support. Since we have all been cooped up we loved adopter/illustrator Don’s rendition of where we have been all holed up – HOME with JG Charley as model […]

Naming the NJ Crew

We need you to help us with names.   Anyone who would like to share their favorite boy and girl dog names we would love you to send them in. As long as the name does NOT include any form of Jack, we would love to see your suggestions. Here are 10 of the NJ crew’s faces who want to have their very own name. You can send in your suggestions either to the website or to our email at jacksgalore@gmail.com.  So put on your thinking caps, let us get these kids some names. We are not very happy with […]

The Sadness of Rescue

As I sit at my computer, typing this between tears, I ask myself what breaks a person so they have to walk away from rescue. There are many times I think I come close to having to step back, I know of many rescue partners who have thrown in the towel and could no longer carry on. Rescuers all have different reasons for this move; financial, personal matters, health, family, burnout, depression, age, and I’m sure there are more I do not know of. We lost Jane today, a very dear beautiful little rescue Jack Russell soul.  A pretty girl […]

Watercolor Commission Fundraiser

Just in time for the holidays, Joanna Dunn an extremely talented artist and Jacks Galore adopter, is holding a fundraiser for the jacks at Jacks Galore. Joanna has proposed a 50-50 fundraiser to help us make sure we have some extra funds for the winter months.     Joanna will paint a watercolor portrait of your Jack for $150 of which she will donate $75 back to the rescue. Joanna captures the character and personality of our jacks in such an intimate way; with beautiful brushstrokes, lightness of colors, and a deep knowledge of who these dogs are. This generosity […]

Being Thankful on Thanksgiving

Jacks Galore has an enormous amount to be grateful for, 19 rejected jacks, a beagle and a chihuahua, to call our own (yes, but they do not ALL sleep in the bed), wonderful dogs waiting to be adopted into their forever homes, a huge emotional support system in the dog community we have been working with these last 12 years, a family that knows we are crazy; but best of all readers and Facebookers like you. You all make it rewarding, fun and most of all possible. JG is ever so thankful, thus the thanks in Thanksgiving. BUT on Thursday […]

Dogs should dress the part

Hunting season is in full swing in the Berkshires of MA and many other states, so walking in the woods means using caution. We dress the jacks in bright orange vests and wear them ourselves. There are lots of sources for safety vests, but we’ve found that smaller ones that fit a jack are hard to find, at least at decent cost or quality. Two catalogues we like are the Orvis Dog Catalogue (and all they carry; but pricey) and Ugly Dog Hunting, enjoyable just for the hunting dog pictures. Their stuff is made for hunting dogs but seems to […]

Zoe, Tiny Firecracker

Zoe was ADOPTED and went home to PA with her new mom, dad, and new dog pal Sammy, a very VERY large dog.  It was love at first sight for everyone.  A life with her retired fur parents, playing with her new four legged friend and an enormous amount of love and attention.  Upon arrival at her new forever home she jumped into dad’s lap and gave tons of face kisses as if to say, yep I am here to stay!!!! Meet Zoe, a 4 year old wee shorty smooth coat female jack. She was adopted from the shelter to a forever […]
