Fourteen Breeders

Fourteen Jack Russells in need arrived at JG on a sunny spring March day, after a two car pickup lead by JG mom with our trusted dog sitter and closest friend Terry. Thank you to our new rescue partner Maria for asking us to help her save these shy, but delightful, breeder jacks.  This pack came from the same place our original eight came from and will eventually know what it means to be loved, be part of a family, and be a real Jack once and for all.   After a very long journey north, they have settled in […]

The Puppy Mill Five

Here is their story.  A rescue was referred to us when a Jack Russell backyard breeder, which we refer to as puppy mills, passed away. The family did not know what to do with the dogs, although we understand they sold some in the meantime “as long as they get out of the house”. A rescue who knew of them locally stepped in to try to help. She’s done an amazing job finding rescues and adopters for the majority of them, but still had five that needed to be adopted by terrier people and she turned to us. We were […]

101 Jack Russells Adopted

2019 was a very good year for 101 Jack Russell Terriers (not Dalmatians) who found their forever homes. These little terriers that came to us looking for a new future ranged from puppies of only a few weeks old, to teenagers, and quite a few seniors that many would consider beyond their expiration date. However, for many of you who know this little dog well, sell by date extends way beyond other dogs’ lifetimes. Sadly, a few of our senior dogs that left our care did pass only after a short time with their new families. But what a treasure […]

The Cruelty of it All

Jacks Galore and rescue partner Chelle said farewell to Dasher. By the time you read this, we will have seen Dasher cross the bridge to freedom and health. Rescue is there to save lives, it is about placing them in forever homes with loving families who let their dog sleep under the covers, snuggle on the sofa and give them good meals and keep them healthy. Rescue is there to end suffering too, and when crisis hits one needs to make decisions that break the heart so that many will never comprehend. Rescue is about being strong, hurting when others […]

Parvo Pups Need Your Help

FUNDS RAISED – THANK YOU – ALL DOGS RECOVERED!!!   Unfortunately, in just two weeks we managed to wipe out three months of savings for vet care, saving newly arrived rescues diagnosed with Parvo one week after coming to JG. $12,150 to save the puppies and their mom. Insane, right? Would you have done it differently? THAT’S with our rescue discount at the emergency 24 hour vet in Albany, NY.  1-1/2 hour drive from the rescue.  Thirteen trips so far in the JG mobile.  We would never consider saying let them die.  None of you would.  We are therefore reaching […]

Another Save

Living outside 24/7 behind an empty house with another dog, enduring very snowy cold winters and hot humid summers, this delightfully sweet nine-year-old female JRT, named Patty by her savior, came to us so she can finally know the true meaning of being cared for. A 13 pound black-and-white smooth coat Jack Russell Terrier with an undocked tail, she has never known what it means to be part of a family, live in a warm house and have soft bedding to snuggle in – let alone a warm lap to sleep on!! Patty was an urgent save since she knew […]

More Joy and Sorrow

Once again, we have seen a week full of joy but it has also been peppered with sorrow.   Cookie continues to thrive in the foster care of our rescue partner Chelle and her family. She eats well, she is surrounded by love, and she is more active and becoming quite sassy! Cookie is not gaining weight, her heart is not in great shape, and she is plagued by arthritis but she is mentally strong and has risen to the occasion while fighting the good fight. More of our New Jersey puppy mill 188ers have moved on to their forever […]

Cookie’s Journey

What is rescue?  How does your support help Jack Galore’s work?  What kind of jacks does your rescue help?  Is my money helping the jacks?  All questions our supporters, adopters and people inquiring ask us – all legitimate questions to ask a rescue. Today I want to give you an example of just a small part of the work that we do, what your money is used for, and how your support helps us save lives. It’s not just about puppies, young healthy happy dogs, dogs surrendered from loving families for circumstances beyond their control. It is not just about […]

NJ Crew Finds Their Way

The NJ crew are slowly finding their way, learning what real life is all about. Snooki, Lottie and Duncan (also known as Winky) are all continuing to thrive at foster mom Dawn’s “rehab” center. Playing with each other, learning to enjoy toys, rolling and sunbathing in the grass and slowly, ever so slowly understanding housebreaking rules.  Moreover, of course learning to be dogs.   Woolly, Winston and Vinnie at the rescue, are also enjoying the freedom of life outside of a crate and beginning to understand walking on a leash and bringing JG mom great joy when they realize that […]
