Jacks Galore rescue would be nothing if it were not for the amazing support and dedication of JG dad. From the very first jack “Jack” adopted so many years ago, the passion and love for this breed has grown over time. Without Howard, there would be no rescue.
At 65, JG dad still works full time to make sure that all the rescue jacks have kibble in their tin cups. Every morning 6 to 12 miles are walked, making sure that the kennel jacks have the exercise they need, no matter the weather; few days are ever missed. If snowshoeing is required to make a path then JG dad is there, shoveling snow paths, snow blowing the agility field to make sure they have open space to run; and he is always there with the tennis ball for a toss.
If it’s an elderly or ailing Jack that needs to come into the sanctuary he’s always open to give comfort, and when it is their time to cross the bridge, he’s there to accompany JG mom in holding the dogs in his arms and comfort them as they leave us. He shares his sofa with many of them, and allows them to sleep nuzzled in his arms. He doesn’t mind having dog hair in his salad, and poop stains on his clothes. He is patient with the difficult and ornery jacks, he is willing to give every dog a second, third or even a fourth chance, if it means they’ll be adopted. And he’s always there for JG mom if there’s yet another crisis with a dog, if another JRT needs to be squeezed in somehow somewhere, and he is always there with kind words and a supportive can-do attitude no matter what befalls the rescue.
So from all the little Jack Russells that have gone ahead and found their forever homes, for all of those that remain in our care waiting for families to arrive, for those whose ashes have touched the earth, and for all of the 19 sanctuary jacks that live in our home, we hope that JG dad has the best Father’s Day ever! We sure know they are very grateful that he loves jacks!!
