Optimistic Odie

ADOPTED!!!!  A Good Samaritan jack owner on Long Island saw his face, her heart melted: she had to intervene.  Odie the jack’s days were limited, his number up.  How could that be?  4 years old, healthy and kind – she had to step up to the challenge and save him.

Her first foray into saving a dog long-distance proved very cumbersome, difficult and time-consuming but she persevered.   Jacks Galore was asked to find him a home and help with logistics to speed up the process.  We were able to help with some close rescue contacts, who in turn had connections who stepped in to pull, board and transport him to his rescuer.  Many of her hard-earned dollars later, Odie arrived at her doorstep – thin, sickly, miserable.  How COULD that be?  Welcome to rescue.

Jacks Galore set to work to find Odie a home from the waiting applicants.  Meanwhile, after several visits to the vet, a whole bunch of meds and some sleepless nights this jack hit the lottery: his rescuer’s jack adored him and they became fast friends.  But more vet work was needed so JG intervened and raced down to meet her and her mom, pick up the quiet jack, and bring him directly to our amazing Dr. Ray.

His health on the mend, noncontagious and lungs almost clear, Odie is now settled in with his roommate Mack.  Odie is amazing and we want to thank this young woman for taking the leap into rescue, for reaching out for help and for spending her time and money to bring him safely to her.

Odie will be joining a young pup also from Jacks Galore in a home where dogs are adored, where they are the core of the family.  Welcome to the travails of rescue, to challenges met, to happy endings….welcome home Odie.
