Grateful for our Volunteers

If there is anything that keeps this small rescue moving forward and allows us the ability to help as many jacks as possible; then our volunteers are certainly the linchpin that makes us tick. Most of our volunteers are transporters, and we are part of an amazing transport group of dedicated drivers who always seem to jump to the occasion to help. The list of those who transport is lengthy, but I cannot thank all of you enough (and you know who you are) for always being there for the dogs. We are part of a rescue group whose volunteers […]

2018 Comes To A Close

It’s gone very quickly 2018, and with it we celebrate lots of JRT adoptions, amazing fundraisers, but also sad days of holding our sanctuary dogs in our arms as they cross the bridge. This year Jacks Galore found forever homes for 98 of our Jack Russell Terriers. Many little four-legged creatures passed through our gates this year and of those quite a few were seniors. We are very blessed to have so many wonderful forever families find our rescue and open their hearts and their homes to a jack in need. It is always wonderful at years end to get […]

Dog Toys as Gifts

There are a bazillion places where you can buy dog toys, no lack of choice. It is always wise to buy high quality toys made in America, and best to avoid many made overseas, depending of course on the country where they originate. You want to know what you are buying, because some toys can be very dangerous and deadly to your dog. We would like to suggest one vendor in the US that makes wonderful plush toys from recycled children’s toys, all done by volunteers.  At Glad Dogs Nation,  your entire purchase price goes to spay and neuter programs in […]

‘Tis The Season – Gift Giving

The time of year has come upon us where we start to think of fun things to do for the holidays and gifts to give. And since most of us are Jack lovers, we’re going to have a series of write ups with gift suggestions, items that Jack parents, or really just any dog lover will enjoy. Our first suggestion are seasonal bandanas! One of our adopters has created fabulous bandanas with wonderful motifs; colorful additions to any dog’s wardrobe. There’s nothing more fun than adding a little spirit and joy with one of these creations. Here’s definitely a way […]

A Four Pack

Dumped at an old abandoned farm building, our four pack of jacks came to us in desperate need of forever homes. They came a little feral, with a little fear, but with an enormous amount of desire to love and to do good. Three brothers, about a year old, now known as George, Jonty and Moo, and a female about two years old from another litter, Evi, all made their way to Massachusetts to be saved. Our rescue partner in Louisiana begged us to intervene once they were caught, and we gladly obliged knowing that they would find the perfect […]

MATCHING FUNDRAISER for 2018

WE DID IT WE DID IT WE DID IT THANK YOU WE REACHED OUR GOAL THANK YOU ONE AND ALL Yet another year brings us a stupendous matching donation from our longtime donors Joan and Tom. But this year it’s extra special so please tune in. The first $10,000 will be matched dollar for dollar – that makes a total of $20,000 BUT if we can raise an additional $5000 they will match that 2 for 1 for an additional $10,000.   This means supporters, donors, adopters and Jack’s Galore believers, that if we raise $15,000 in one month we […]

Muffin; here is her story

Muffin, a little black and white 11 year old female Jack Russell,  just recently came to Jacks Galore because she has severe health issues that currently requires expensive medication and food. A wonderful rescue we work with in West Virginia had adopted her out in 2016, after being found as a stray. But inexplicably Muffin became very ill and the elderly couple could no longer care for her. While the rescue was trying to figure out her health issues, she was placed in boarding for quite some time until she was stabilized and then they wanted […]

Winter Games

It’s been a while since we’ve reached out and connected with our supporters and adopters, but the rescue has been so extremely busy that when the day ends it’s almost impossible to keep working on the computer just because so many of the jacks need us and they are our priority. This March has been absolutely miserable, the three major no’r easters, back to back, has taken its toll. All of our time has been spent managing the more than 2 feet of snow with each storm and final count of more than 6 feet before mid March.  We still […]

A Legacy for the JG Jacks

It is rare to be so humbled by a gift from a donor unknown to us, whose love of the Jack Russell Terrier assured that Jacks were in his will. By chance his dear friend Barbara, also a JRT lover and owner, learned of us and proposed we be part of his gifting. It thus happened that Dick, his executor and friend of more than 30 years, made sure Jacks Galore was the recipient of a generous donation by The Daniel Edward Offutt III Charitable Trust of Weston, Connecticut.  The donor, Dan Offutt, passed away at 85 following an illness. […]
