Tony’s Tail

Tony update – Thursday, September 17, Tony was put to sleep in our arms.  After rapid deterioration of his health in the last days, a sonogram was preformed and it was found that he had liver cancer.  Tony was in much discomfort.  Upon speaking with his adoptive mom and with the support and advice of our vet, we made the decision to let Tony cross the bridge.  Tony is now at peace, and he was immensely loved his last days and hours.  RIP, you have now known true love. Tony has a story to tell: a tale of neglect, abuse, followed […]

Peety and Darla

ADOPTED!!! Petey and Darla BOTH went to their forever homes on the same day – one to the Cape in MA and the other to NH (and Florida!!).  Both will be active, well loved and safe forever more.  And best of all their first fur dad knows they are safe and well. Peety, a three-year-old 17-pound black and white long-tailed male, came in with his roommate Darla, a 17-pound, three-year-old brown and white female. Adorable, energetic, playful, muscular and very affectionate, these two came to us from terribly sad circumstances. We were alerted by a shelter when three little Jack […]

The joy of rescue, but with intense sadness too

Rescue offers so much joy and feeling of accomplishment that it’s always a wonderful field to be part of; volunteering at your local shelter, helping raise funds for a rescue you know, collecting dog food or bedding for a dog group that needs it, or working closely with someone who does it full time. At Jacks Galore we do rescue full time, and I can only say there’s much joy in saving these little souls, seeing them head off to their forever homes with a wagging tail and the sparkle in their eyes, and hearing of their antics with follow-ups […]

Why are we still here?

There’s never been a time when we’ve had such a wonderful group of jacks waiting to find their forever homes. Cozy in the kennels, busy on the agility field, long walks in the woods, on the back country roads and snuggles before bed, and that’s all absolutely wonderful; but it’s not a home. It’s not snuggling on the sofa when you’re watching TV, it’s not getting that morning hug from your new family, and it’s not sitting at your window and watching the birds and squirrels in the yard, or greeting the mailman with bounces and barks.  The current crop […]

Puppies on Parade

ADOPTED – all pups are heading to their various homes THIS week, the first week in July.  Congrats to one and all on your new kids. Jacks Galore has a hand right now in helping some puppies looking for homes. Mom is a long legged rough coat Jack; and daddy? We are all assuming he’s a Heeler by the markings of the pups. These little Jack mixes, two girls and four little boys, are currently four weeks old and weigh in at 4 pounds. They’ve already started their vetting and continue to nurse with Mama; although she’s getting tired of […]

Who are the sanctuary Jacks?

With the loss of three of our sanctuary jacks, Simon, then Merlin and now Milo, we thought we’d introduce our supporters and adopters to the jacks we call the sanctuary dogs. Currently living out their lives as family members in the JG household, Simon, who crossed the bridge the week of April 20, was one of 24 Jack Russell terriers living together. With the loss on April 27 of Merlin, another senior statesman, and then quite suddenly our dear 7 year old Milo on Sunday the 3rd of May, JG’s numbers have dropped to 21. These dogs, most now over […]

Max is a 1 year old, 17-pound, tricolor smooth-coated shorty male with an overabundance of enthusiasm for life. With a great love for the tennis ball and willing to spend hours chasing it for you, Max also enjoys very long walks, attentively keeping by you in hopes of finding something interesting to catch. Max came to Jacks Galore when the […]

Jovial Jacob

ADOPTED!!!!! Jacob is a little 9-year-old shorty, tricolored 9-pound smooth coated male who lives for the ball! And we mean LIVES for the ball. This little firecracker is not just extremely small but has the energy of 20 Jack Russells. Jacob gets along with all other dogs, and has been rooming with various small Jacks at the kennels here at Jacks Galore, but we think to preserve the peace for the tennis ball’s sake Jacob would be best living as an only dog. Extremely loving, Jacob is a pint-sized bundle who loves to jump on your lap and be adored. […]

Taken by animal control from his home where he was left outside without food and water, he has come to Jacks Galore with an abundance of love and energy. Already housetrained, extremely smart (the dog door […]

Rockin’ Rocket

ADOPTED!!!  Off with his family to live in TN with some pals and a family that includes a daughter who just completed her studies at Cornell vet school.  Looks like Rocket will always have the best health care there could be.  Busy days ahead for this perfect jack. Rocket is a seven-year-old, long-legged, tan and white smooth-coated male Jack who found himself in need of a forever home when his previous owner could no longer care for him.
