The Gift of Giving

This time of year we’ve all scrambled and plotted to find some wonderful gifts for the people we love and the dogs we cherish. With the holidays already upon us, we’re just now putting everything together to make this special day unique as we all do every year it comes around. I always like to mention what I think are some wonderful dog Christmas gifts, but these are also available year-round as a gift for those of us who love our treasured Jacks. For dog owners in cold climes I love to mention the Foggy Mountain dog coats, because they […]

Send Us Your Best Picture

Calling all Jacks Galore alumni as well as supporters; to submit their best, high quality, in focus, photograph of their JRT. A very dedicated JG supporter proposed compiling the best images in a book she will publish. Producing a “Jacks Galore” photo book will act as a fundraiser so we can continue to help all of the needy jacks that have been knocking at our door recently, and if it is successful we might just do a second. We hope to be able to offer this “for sale” by the holidays, so send those photographs to JG mom at jacksgalore@gmail.com. […]

From Cruelty to Healing to Adoption

Shelley went through a lot in her very short life, but once she arrived at Jacks Galore we knew she had been worth saving, and we were very grateful that we had been entrusted with her care by the wonderful and caring Dr. Sheldon Yessenow and staff at the Oronoque Animal Hospital in CT.  Dogs are amazing creatures, and this little Jack Russell Terrier cross showed nothing but stoicism and the desire to live life and not dwell in the past; but go forward with gusto. Healing quickly with youth on her side, she soon wormed her way into everybody’s […]

A Healing Story

Jacks Galore received an email from a supporter, who had a friend in Connecticut begging her to seek help for a dog. A little Jack Russell mix who appeared to have been terribly injured, lay in pain and limbo at a vet’s office in Connecticut, where the decision had to be made to help heal or to let go. Reaching out to us and asking us for help to please save the life of his dog, we immediately contacted Dr. Sheldon Yessenow of the Oronoque Animal Hospital.  This little girl was lucky to have been taken to this amazing vet […]

Summer Matching Fundraiser

Once again a most marvelous Connecticut couple and amazing supporters of Jacks Galore, has given us the challenge of the year. A $10,000 matching donation if we can come up with the funds by September 30. in other words they will match dollar for dollar up to $10,000.  This doubles any donation you might make so that Jacks Galore may continue their efforts on behalf of all needy jacks. This will certainly take us through the holidays and end of the year and cover the costs incurred and anticipated for the next six months. As stated in our blog of August 20 we’re […]

The Need to Raise Funds

It’s that time of year in that we have exhausted our donations since our last very large fundraiser in 2015.  With the help of our monthly donors, our adopters, and some very generous people throughout the year we’ve been able to keep up with our costs but need to reach out and ask you to help us make it through the end of the year. We know you ask yourselves where does the money go that we send to JG?  The expenditures were great this year but we make sure we do our work with minimum expense, but yet rescue […]

Pepe’s Journey to Safety

PEPE UPDATE – FUNDS RAISED!!!  Pepe will be on his way soon in early August.  We will keep everyone in the loop of this gentleman’s journey from Spain.  Thank you one and all for helping Tracy reach her goal!! An email from a foreign land, a desperate plea for help, a Jack Russell destined to die in a no kill shelter where care is not able to be provided, an American student who took him off the streets but could not help him complete his journey to America. This is Pepe’s story. Jacks Galore was asked to perform miracles, and […]

Florida Max’s Story

Another jack on his way to Jacks Galore to fill the void of those that have passed this year. After a plea for help from a rescue partner down south, Max is coming from Florida where there are so many dogs in need that the shelters are overflowing, and many lose their life waiting. Surrendered because his family could no longer afford to keep him, with severe eye disease and cataracts, his one eye had to be removed to relieve the pressure and give him some comfort. With limited vision in his cataract eye, Max is heading up to Massachusetts […]

A Tribute to JG dad on Father’s Day

Jacks Galore rescue would be nothing if it were not for the amazing support and dedication of JG dad. From the very first jack “Jack” adopted so many years ago, the passion and love for this breed has grown over time. Without Howard, there would be no rescue. At 65, JG dad still works full time to make sure that all the rescue jacks have kibble in their tin cups. Every morning 6 to 12 miles are walked, making sure that the kennel jacks have the exercise they need, no matter the weather; few days are ever missed. If snowshoeing […]
