Clete, the three legged wonder

Clete, now named Clyde, went home this cold dreary November weekend to his own 200 acre farm in Vermont.  With a new mom who is a vet, to make sure he never has physical problems and able to monitor his health should he encounter arthritis as he ages, he joyfully performed his no nonsense play for his new fur parents.  With a very large German Shephard puppy as a pal, he found his bliss mouthing his new mate and showing the MASSIVE pup who can speed as well as a four legged giant.  Clyde will continue to run like the wind, for his […]

Perry, adopted after surgery

Pulled by a volunteer at a shelter just before euthanasia, Perry is a 7 year old jack with a smooth coat of silk and the eyes the color of chestnuts, who must at some point in his life been loved and then ended up in the clink when hard times prevented his owners from providing him proper vet care. A bum leg from a car strike and a tumor on his penis, Perry’s chances for adoption from the shelter he landed in were slim so he was put on that dreaded list. Spotted by a volunteer, an APB went out […]

Jetta, An Athletic Mix

ADOPTED!!!!! Jetta is a very young 8 month old border collie (yes BC) mixed with jack to make a nice athletic combination. Jetta is located at the marvelous Glen Highland Border Collie Rescue in Morris, NY. She is an exceptionally sweet girl who really is blossoming at the farm. Easily says hello to everyone and loves the attention she is garnered there. Cute as a button, she is a petite 30 pounds, smart as a whip and eager to learn and please. Jetta is truly enjoying all the toys and action at the farm where it is busy and exciting. […]

Zoe, Tiny Firecracker

Zoe was ADOPTED and went home to PA with her new mom, dad, and new dog pal Sammy, a very VERY large dog.  It was love at first sight for everyone.  A life with her retired fur parents, playing with her new four legged friend and an enormous amount of love and attention.  Upon arrival at her new forever home she jumped into dad’s lap and gave tons of face kisses as if to say, yep I am here to stay!!!! Meet Zoe, a 4 year old wee shorty smooth coat female jack. She was adopted from the shelter to a forever […]

Fitzie, Aging Gracefully

Jacks Galore elder statesman Fitzie is a 19 year old free spirit. Ever the calm, quiet man around the house, Fitzie came to us because he was no longer able to stay in his home due to his perceived incontinence. Joining our pack three years ago, he has proven a model of cleanliness. After a full vet check to assure there were no urinary issues, we were considering Proin which has worked so well on some of our older dogs in the past, and we assume it makes them more comfortable so there is no more bed wetting as they […]

Milo, a JG with a liver shunt

Milo, the little brown jack on the left of the trio,  has a liver shunt, and thus has come to live out his life with the Jacks Galore pack. Now at a young 4 years of age, Milo was the runt of the litter. A tiny dog with a head more suited to a little Chihuahua, he has a presence many larger jacks only wished for. The time he has with us is undetermined. Just months, but hopefully many years to come. Many dogs are able to have their liver shunt surgically corrected and thus maintain a normal lifestyle. Milo was […]

Vet Care

How often do we go to the vet? It seems all rescues spend a good deal of their time and money at their vet, so you better have a good one. My favorite dog magazine, The Bark, a rescue supportive, informative publication all about dogs, is currently asking readers to comment on what they think is a good vet, and there has been a lot of talk lately about vets, as it should be. Your dog’s life could depend on their knowledge and quick thinking. Jacks Galore has its share of vet visits. We have been graced not only here […]

Adopt a Senior

As Jersey above demonstrates the slumbering moves of an older dog, at 11 he is atuned to the rhythms of his body slowing down, just like Jacks Galore elder statesman Fitzie who is a 19 year old free spirit.  Ever the calm, quiet man around the house Fitzie came to us because he was no longer able to stay in his home due to his perceived incontinence.  Joining our pack just three years ago he has proven to be a model of cleanliness.  We hope that he will grace our pack for a few more years, but he is the senior […]

Henrietta is Available

ADOPTED!!!!! Henriettta, aka Henri, is no longer available because this November weekend she was chosen to join an active family with a young girl who not only plays soccer and dances, but knew that throwing the ball non stop for Henri was the way to go.  Kisses were given all around and her new fur parents decided she was the one.  Off to PA to enjoy a life filled with travel, snuggling and lots of ball tosses; her long wait was well rewarded.  The perfect match for all.  Good luck gorgeous Henri, you got it made. Henrietta aka Henri is […]
