Perry – RIP

On November 11 on the way to the vet, Perry lost his battle to cancer in the seat of his mom’s car safely snuggled with love. Perry did not grace his forever home for long, but he had immediately warmed their hearts with his smile, his gentle nature and his love of life. Their complete devotion to this rescue jack was amazing and Jacks Galore asks if there was anything we would have done different, but we think not. We are so happy that Perry was brought to safety and did not die at the end of a shelter needle, […]

Three for Three

A weekend every rescue dreams of: three adoptions, three wonderful jacks to three dog-savvy homes; not much more one could ask for. Dollie has settled in well with her new family, the guys of the house are still on an outdoor break and have only seen pictures of her so are looking forward to meeting her next week. Dolly and Remi, her new jack pal, are loving the playing and staying busy, and she was all excited to meet the cats who wondered why another jack was now in the house; good sleeping in that new forever home. Three-legged Clete, […]

Twosome Shylene and Koby

Shylene and Koby came to us through rescue and we took them under our wing so they have a safe forever home. But the longer they are with us nicely settled as the office dogs, Jacks Galore realizes these two deserve a forever home of their own. JG is willing to wait as long as it takes to find them a family to call their own. A pair of small, well behaved, extremely clean and loving jacks, Shylene the female at 6 years, a black and white broken coat and Koby the smooth coat tri-color male at 5 deserve to […]

Over the Moon – Oreo

Oreo came to Jacks Galore via a wonderful couple who adopted from us before. They alerted us that a jack was to be put to sleep because he had such extreme separation anxiety and the family was at its wits end with his biting or going after you when you left or put him in a crate. JG was asked to intervene. Their vet said he thought the dog was not trainable. The night before he was to lose his life JG determined to give Oreo a chance at being a jack and on the afternoon of that next day […]

Marvelous Maize

Maize found her forever home, but not just ANY marvelous forever home, a family where she was adopted with a jack pal who had only arrvied the night before.  Off she went not only to be loved forever with a guy partner, a life full of activity, travels, and sleeping on the couch when the day is done, but Maize need never worry again that she will have to be rescued, she has found her future, and it is all good. Mazie still marvels that she landed in safe and loving arms after being abandoned at a shelter at only 2 years of age. […]

Cute as a …….. Buttons

Buttons found his forever home right after the holidays so he will be able to celebate the new year in his own home; safely and quietly.  Now residing not far from the Jacks Galore campus, he will be in a calm environment where he can relax and not worry about whether the ball will be tossed or not, it will be there for him as long and as often as he wishes.  A well deserved finale for a quiet little jack.  Buttons, the 3 year old broken coat tan and white boy jack, is ready for that forever home. Deposited at a shelter […]

Sugar’s Sweet Rescue Savior

Sugar and her family got her miracle, and Jacks Galore is pleased to have been a part of it. All rescues rely on friends, rescue partners and volunteers who care when the need arises, and we found out how well this works for Sugar.   Sugar was in dire need, she had just two days to find a home, two days to find her way to safety. She was loved, she was adored, and she still is. Sugar grew up in a loving home with a young man to call her very own, but a family emergency made her lose […]

Awesome Abe……Apprehension no more

Abe was adotpd on a brisk fall day in November and off he went to enjoy walks on the beach, ball playing in the yard and boating in the spring with his own family of three to adore him forever.  Abe not only blossomed at Jacks Galore but became the jack he was meant to be, full of desire to live in the now.  Good luck Abe, your confidence will shine in your future. Abe has truly blossomed during the two short weeks he’s been at Jacks Galore and is showing us his true loving and gentle nature. Abe is all about […]

Simon and Gabby – JG seniors

Simon is a 13-year-old rough coat shorty jack who came to us via Russell Refuge with his gal pal Gabby, a smooth coat a wee bit younger at 11. Both sadly were no longer able to live with their parents and dad was very upset at having to give them up so late in their lives. They had been his since they were pups. We humans can experience sudden changes with our living arrangements that can catch us unawares, so make sure you have relocation or adoption plans for your dogs and any other critters you may have in your […]

Dogs should dress the part

Hunting season is in full swing in the Berkshires of MA and many other states, so walking in the woods means using caution. We dress the jacks in bright orange vests and wear them ourselves. There are lots of sources for safety vests, but we’ve found that smaller ones that fit a jack are hard to find, at least at decent cost or quality. Two catalogues we like are the Orvis Dog Catalogue (and all they carry; but pricey) and Ugly Dog Hunting, enjoyable just for the hunting dog pictures. Their stuff is made for hunting dogs but seems to […]
