2018 Comes To A Close

It’s gone very quickly 2018, and with it we celebrate lots of JRT adoptions, amazing fundraisers, but also sad days of holding our sanctuary dogs in our arms as they cross the bridge.

This year Jacks Galore found forever homes for 98 of our Jack Russell Terriers. Many little four-legged creatures passed through our gates this year and of those quite a few were seniors. We are very blessed to have so many wonderful forever families find our rescue and open their hearts and their homes to a jack in need.

Sr. Chloe – adopted

It is always wonderful at years end to get the many Christmas cards and letters from not only our supporters, but especially from our alumni, with photographs of playing dogs, sporting big smiles and wagging tails, notes of success with training or news of adventure filled days. We are always so grateful for the many of you who step up to support our mission; helping us take in as many jacks as we are able. Our dogs not only come from individuals who need to surrender them, but from shelters who reach out with a jack in need, or from a vet who knows not where to turn with a JRT left behind or in need of extreme medical care.

Peanut – Adopted

We are so grateful that we were able to reach our goal for our financial needs, as this year was one with extraordinary veterinary costs. In the last two months alone, we took in five seniors needing major dentals in excess of $4000. Veterinary care is our first priority. So many of the Jack Russells that come to us have not had recent vet care, bringing them up-to-date on their inoculations is vital, they need to be microchipped, bloodwork done and dentals are always of major importance with age. We take great pride in knowing that whoever adopts a Jack from us gets a dog that has had the best vetting once it comes into our care.

The sanctuary also took in several new dogs, those that were unadoptable due to age, poor health or aggressiveness. If they can fit in our pack, they are welcome to stay until their final days have come.

As this year comes to an end, we look towards 2019 and contemplate the future of rescue. Already there is a waiting list of little terriers wanting to join Jacks Galore in hopes of finding their forever home. Please know how very grateful we are for all of you, thankful there are so many kind people willing to open up not only their homes and hearts but also donate to our cause so that we are able to fulfill the dreams of homeless dogs that pass through our doors. We hope that you will continue to stand behind us and be there for us when we ask for help.

Happy new year everyone, thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts, please know how grateful we are for all of you. To all of you who volunteer, give of your time, your money, your hearts and your homes; rescue is teamwork and we could not do it without you!
